Mountain Trail Training

Have you ever wondered how your horse will react to certain situations in the mountains? The first river crossing? The first mud hole or bog in the middle of the trail? Your coat falling off your saddle? How your horse will cross a log, bridge  or a small creek encounter? Do you think that they'll jump instead of stand or walk?

Allow us to put your horse through all of these obstacles and help them pass and succeed at them. With this you will be able to ride out alone and not worry about how your horse is going to react to everything. With part of the mountain training program we will make sure that you can fire more than the first shot of a gun off their back. We'll get them gun broke to the point where they will stand still to a gun shot. This has its benefit in the mountains as well as in the arena, or just trail riding.

Yearling Training

Why wait until your horse is too old to be handled with ease. Get a confident handle on your horse at a young age. We'll have them easy to catch, properly halter broke to lead, and control over there front legs and hind legs from the ground at the end of the first month. Through this, you can work to avoid your horse from pulling back and being the dominant one in your relationship with them. This will give you the confidence you need to take your young horse to the next level over the next year until they're ready to be started under saddle.

Colt Starting Training

Getting a Colt started under saddle is one of the most crucial times in a horses life. You're laying a foundation down for the years to come. Having this done improperly can leave you with a horse that is unsafe to ride, and unsafe to be around. Let us work with your horse at this stage so that you don't have to end up in that situation. There's not necessarily a wrong way of starting a colt, however, there is an easier and more efficient way of doing it. It's easier to work with the horse, than against it. We have found this time and time again and we work with the horses personality to create a better horse in return for you. Again, we work with the horse, from their point of view, not against them. We do highly recommend that a colt stay with us for two months when being started. As it stands, most horses will hit a wall somewhere between 25 and 40 hours of training. In this wall, they will try and find ways to get away with things they normally have been really good with. Let us work through this wall with your colt so that you don't have to. This will help you and your horse get off to enjoying your new relationship in much better way.

Troubled Horses

Have you ever come across that "special horse"? You know, the one with an attitude, it runs from you when you try to catch it, or rears and bucks when you try to ride it. Maybe it's good to ride but hard to handle on the ground, or the opposite of that. No matter what the vice of the horse is, you feel somehow connected or drawn to the horse in a way that you don't understand, but all you know is that this will be the horse for you without the issues that can't deter you from them. Let us help the horse through these issues as well as help teach you how to handle and work with the horse from the horses point of view. We'll help them get out of their bad issues for you so you don't end up with a picture similar to the one on the left. Let's face it, the only horse that should ever buck is one coming out of the chute at a rodeo.

A few of the obstacles may include bridge crossing, opening and closing gates, dragging objects, teeter totters, and using large flags. This is a great place to come and work on some of the obstacles you may find in the ever growing sport of  "cowboy challenge". All ages and all types of horses are welcome, especially young and green horses. This will be a great way to help you and your horse find a better connection together.
